Low FODMAP for IBS

An elimination diet to assist with irritable bowel syndrome

The Monash University Low FODMAP diet has been shown to improve the symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome in many people.

FODMAPS are Fermentable Oligosaccharides, Disaccharides, Monosaccharides and Polyols. In short, they are the sugars or carbohydrates in some foods which are not easily digested by the gut. This can cause bloating, discomfort, diarrhoea and pain.

A low FODMAP elimination diet can be a suitable way to discover what may be triggering these symptoms and bring some relief.
